Self-Actualization

When you realize you have an addiction, it's a terrible thing.

The Don and I were chatting away this morning, making our usual rounds on our respective websites, reading and posting to the Sleeper Cartel website when, BOOM - the website died. All afternoon there's been no posting, no reading, no getting anything guild-related done. I feel like I've been sitting here at my desk chair with my thumb firmly planted in my hind end, 'cause I can't do anything even though I want to.

So. Here I be. Posting on my blog.

Anyway, I called mom for our usual noon chat, and found out that the school called her house and Conman is sick. My dad went and picked him up, I went to their house to check on him, and he's got a low-grade, very mild fever (we're talking 99). They gave him Motrin, and he promptly fell asleep. When I checked him before I left, his fever was gone (he was cool to the touch). Sickness has been rampant at his school, so I was expecting it. It was only a matter of time.

I think I'm going to start a weekly quiz feature. Each Thursday, I'm gonna track down a silly quiz with a widget to take so I can post my results here. Just for fun, give y'all something to look at. Rest assured, it won't be the quiz-gasm yesterday was. I vow to not fill your screen with quiz widgets like that again. *evilgrin*

I guess that's it. I want my SC Forums back, darnit. Okay, I'll hush.

Weekend Re-Cap

DH and I took Conman on a road trip this weekend. Yesterday morning at about 6:30am, we all rolled out of bed, piled into the car, and went to visit BFF and her family. The kids hadn't been together in almost a year, so together we decided that it was time we got together again and had a little fun.

We got there at about 10:00 am yesterday morning, and as soon as we walked through the door Conman disappeared with the girls to begin what was to become a marathon play session. DH and I parked our rear ends on the couch and we started our marathon "catching up" session with BFF and her hubby. At some point yesterday, BFF/H and DH took off to go buy the evening's libations while the kids played on.

Fast-forward to about 8pm. The kids went to bed and miraculously, stayed there. Once we were sure they would remain in bed, the adults began to consume the alcohol. DH and I don't drink much (like, maybe two times a year, if that) so DH had a couple of beers and I had a couple wine coolers (I know, and yes, I am a wimp). Once we were feeling good, we broke out the Rock Band X-Box game.

I'm here to tell you, I have not had such a good time playing a video game in a very long time. For most of the evening I played the singer, singing all manner of songs karaoke-style while DH played a little fake bass, BFF played a fake guitair, and BFF/H played a fake set of drums. We laughed a lot and got some high scores. Finally, BFF/H was absolutely exhausted after "playing" the drums for about two hours, so I offered to take over and bang on 'em for a while. I'm gonna have to say that I'm not a born drummer. I couldn't keep it going, couldn't coordinate all my limbs (especially after alcohol) and consistently scored low. But it was fun, and that's all that counts.

If you've got an X-Box and you're considering picking up Rock Band, do it. If you get together with your friends often, or even just play on-line, Rock Band is a guaranteed good time. I don't usually like console games, and I had the best time playing that one.

Anyway...so...moving on to this morning.

The kids woke us (DH and I) up at about 7:00am since we were sleeping in the living room (me on the couch, DH on the floor). We sat around for a while and listened to the continuing epic play session continue. I kinda knew something was up when Conman came into the living room and crawled into my lap and just sorta laid there. Something was definitely up - and coming out of his mouth, too. In short order, he puked all over the place. Luckily, it was just water that he had drank that morning, but this little vomiting episode made us decide it was time to pack up the troops and begin the march home. Troops thusly packed, be began our long slog back home. It took us longer than anticipated, though, since we stopped and ate on the way. By the time we got somewhere to eat, Conman acted like he felt better. He ate, and we had no repeating of the throwing up, which is a good thing.

But anyway, we're home now, and I'm post two-hour nap. Don't ask me how I managed to wrangle ye olde braincells into performing, but there you have it. Hope you guys had a fantastic weekend too!
